The sustainability of e-resources is a critical factor with which all involved in the management of online services must address. JISC, as part of the work of the Strategic Content Alliance, commissioned research from Ithaka into this topic in order to gain a greater understanding of ways in which business planning for the continuance of public-sector based online content might be assured. Its report Sustainability and Revenue Models for Online Academic Resources was published in May 2008 and was followed by a seminar in March 2009 looking at a range of case studies drawn from across the world demonstrating different approaches to sustainability.
